Red Robes is album number two from Swedish doomsters, The Order of Israfel, and it picks up right where the excellent debut, Wisdom, left off. Take a ton of traditional doom, splash a little bit of rock and just a pinch of stoner, and you have a pretty good idea of what to expect from Red Robes.

The vocals of main-man Tom Sutton are of the deep, throaty variety (think Molly Hatchet), so those take some getting used to you, but his lead playing and songwriting are both top notch. Red Robes is a more than worthy pick-up for any fan of traditional doom.
