Another disc of extremely mellow Funeral Doom from this one-man act from Texas. The Howling Void have put out 6 albums since 2009, and all the ones I have heard sound more or less the same. That's not necessarily a bad thing, as I find them all pretty good, but it is a very laid-back kind of good that is rather hard to get that excited about. This is stuff that makes for excellent background or mood music, but it never really grips you or carries you away. Multi-instrumentalist Ryan Wilson plays in a lot of bands, and produces a lot of different kinds of music, and he is obviously very productive, but none of this is really arresting. If you like very low-key Doom, then this is a band to get into.
