Review

In the welter of lesser works that often clutter up the pool of "atmospheric" Black Metal, this is a real find. This is just a moody, dark album filled with fantastic melodies and involving songwriting. It's definitely slow and quite doom-ish in places, and the recording is muffled, so it sounds like the music that might emanate from the dark hills at midnight, seeping up from below the earth, where the dark queen holds sway over her court. There is real pleasure in hearing an album that is aiming to create a mood and absolutely nailing it. This is a dim, medieval-sounding album that evokes a hollow world of loss and ancient magic, and I love every second of it.
