You know, I really do love the country of Greece. It's got everything a person could ask for: gorgeous views, great culture, delicious food, and most importantly, a first-rate Metal scene with an endless supply of promising young bands. Two-man outfit Infernal Throne are another one of these acts, this one playing a muscular and vicious brand of Black/Thrash with progressive touches added to the mix. They lean a lot more on the Thrash than the Black while also incorporating a bit of Death Metal, all of which comes together to create an epic and atmospheric sound that roughly sounds like a thrashier version of Necrophobic and Behemoth.

Opener "Till the End" sets expectations pretty high with some breathtaking melodic work. "Venom Breath" is more Black/Death in approach, but that doesn't stop it from having killer riffs. "Taste of War" is a slab of full-on thrashing intensity and aggression while album closer "Torment" shows the band stretching their epic sensibilities to slowly build an enveloping atmosphere of hopelessness. The version of this I have comes with a demo cut of "Torment" at the end, but there's not too much more to say about it outside of the demo-grade production.

The performances are all tight and venomous to go along with the music, especially in the drum work, though I couldn't tell you who did it (might be a machine, but it's a well disguised one if that's the case). For a debut EP, this is a highly professional and mature release, and it makes me excited to see what these two do next. A band to watch.
