The Golden Age of Black Magick is the seventh album of varied, US-styled metal from the Texans in Ignitor. Their playing ranges from a power/thrash style on songs like "Hell Shall Be Your Home" where power and speed combine in a Vicious Rumors-style assault to having a more rocking vibe reminiscent of the early LA scene on "Tonight We Ride." They bring some epic feel to the table on the title track and "Stoned at the Acropolis," which evoke echoes of Virgin Steele. It is an overall solid album that rocks and riffs from start to finish with enough variety to not get stale. Ignitor don't really sound a lot like any of the bands I've mentioned despite the similar vibe of the songs, so if you want something straightforward and not exactly like everything else, The Golden Age of Black Magick should ring that bell.
