Review

I reviewed this band's fourth album some years ago and I fucking hated it, so I wasn't sure what to expect from their ninth. You can't accuse Inner Missing of slacking off, as they have been very productive for a band that's only been around for like 14 years. Anyway, I see they have stuck with their Gothic sound, but have also added in a lot of Doom elements to produce an album that is actually kind of good.

Now, this is still a band that wouldn't exist without Type O Negative, as vocalist/guitarist Sigmund not only maunders his vocals in a deep sotto voice, but the guy is clearly kind of wishing he looked more like Peter Steele. Here and there they add some operatic female backing vocals, which sound good and I wish they had done more with that. However, imitative or not, this album is actually built on some pretty good Doom riffs, and it remains more than listenable throughout. If you have worn out a copy of October Rust in your lifetime, then this should be an album you'll enjoy.
