This is a compilation of some five 7" that Night Demon released in 2020 (I guess that explains the title, though I can't say I was impressed by 2021, and 2022 is off to a bad start...moving on...) I'm not particularly familiar with these guys other than knowing they exist, but I enjoyed this little slab of traditional heavy metal. Everything from the vocals to the music just oozes early to mid-80s catchy heavy metal that gets the foot tapping and the fist in the air. It's that kind of easy-going, party-style metal that's not too "threatening" for the average rocker, though don't let that fool you: this stuff is pretty meaty and there's sharpness and heaviness aplenty and some of it is pretty speedy. There are some live tracks that sound pretty good, including a cover of Maiden's "Wasted Years" that's not too shabby. Year of the Demon is a safe buy for anyone who likes early to mid-80s heavy metal.
