Thy Rites is a (presently) one-man act formed by Antonio Albuquerque, here under the name Nekrotizer. He’s had a decently productive career so far, releasing about five albums since 2005 with this one, Nekrolatreia, being the fourth of those releases. The closest comparison I can make with this release is to Whiplash’s Power and Pain with a bit of Slayer’s Show No Mercy and a hint of Black Metal for good measure. If that sounds like a badass combination that makes for filthy, straightforward, face-ripping Thrash that could have come out in 1986, that’s because it is, and it’s about as entertaining as that would imply. This is far from amazing, but if you can’t get enough of nasty Golden Age Thrash, then this is worth giving a listen.
