Last year I rather liked Leviathan, and I praised the band for releasing a normal, single-disc album, rather than the multi-disc monstrosities they have been foisting on us for over a decade. But of course, now we get Leviathan II and all that goes out the window. Sixteenth album from Therion, maybe, depending on how you count these things, and it has no surprises at all.

If you liked Leviathan you will like this fine, just not as much. Like almost all two-part albums, the second part is weaker here. The sound is the same kind of choral, orchestral music Therion have been playing for 20+ years, but the songwriting is not as good as on Leviathan, and in fact there is no reason I can see why they made this a part two and not just a different album, as there is nothing about the sound that ties it to the previous album. It's just more of the same, but not quite as good.
