Fight or Fall is the second album from Night Legion, a band from Australia that plays the crunchy, Euro-style of power metal I more commonly associate with German bands. If you are unfamiliar with the German take on power metal, what you can expect are gritty yet clean vocals, crunchy riffs, minimal keys and a bag full of hooks. Their sound is cleaner and more polished than on their self-titled debut, but the heaviness has not been sacrificed, so there are plenty of thumping bass runs and ass-kicking riffs to get your fist in the air. Night Legion has come up with a few really catchy choruses ("The Hounds of the Baskervilles," "At World's End") but in the end, much of the songwriting is generic but still entertaining. Night Legion are a good band with performances a step or two ahead of the songwriting at this point of their career. Hopefully, things get more in sync next time. Fans of bands like Iron Fire, Brainstorm, and that crowd will want to keep tabs on them.
