You can always count on Slavic countries for solid, hammers-down Death Metal. This is the fourth album from Russian band Monastery Dead, and it thugs a crunching, pounding breed of Death Metal that recalls bands like Trauma, Lost Soul, or Vader. This kind of thing lives and dies on guitar tone and riffs, and this band has those aspects nailed down, with a blistering axe sound and riffs that skate right between Behemoth and Entombed. Nothing new but it will peel the skin off your face.
