This is pretty cool, actually. I heard good things about this band, more than one person calling them better than Agent Steel; well, they are not quite that good yet, but Timelord's debut album Regeneration is pretty kickass nonetheless. Sometimes it's nice to get more reassurance that the US scene is not all metalcore shit.

Timelord are so solidly in the US Metal tradition their sound might as well be trademarked. Comparisons could be made to Helstar, Agent Steel, Steel Prophet, Crescent Shield, Onward, etc etc. Timelord start with a heavy, chunky guitar attack that veers into Thrash sometimes, complex arrangements, and solid clean vocals from Guitarist/Singer Matt Aub (formerly of Thy Majestie). He hasn't got pipes like Bruce Hall or Rick Mathyasin, but he does fine in comparison with James Rivera or Micheal Grant. There are some cool tunes here, like the proggy, thrashy "The Great Machine", or the more direct "Slaves" and "Cult Of The Dead". If Timelord have a failing, it's in being sometimes too proggy and thereby losing focus on the overall song. Opener "Dawn Of Dissent" is like this, so don't judge the album based on that. Overall Timelord whip up a potent debut that should get fans of any of the acts I've mentioned excited. This isn't a perfect album, but it's a highly enjoyable slice of Heavy/Thrash Metal that bodes well for this band's future.
