Review

Let me start by saying that I am a fan of metal music which should be obvious by now if you have read any of my other reviews or interviews. That is not to say I cannot appreciate other forms of music for what they offer but my tastes definitely lean to more of an aggressive nature and this is where this album completely lost me.

For those of you who do not know Timo Tolkki is the guitarist for one of the best power metal bands out there in Stratovarius. If you were expecting something even slightly resembling power metal (or any form of metal for that fact) you will be extremely disappointed in this album. The first time I listened to this I had to make sure I didn't have the radio on because at first I thought it might be Night Ranger or Loverboy. I have listened to this four or five more times and I still get that same first impression.

Through reading through the promo material that was included I have come to an understanding of what this album is trying to represent. The material is of a deeply personal nature in which Timo takes a trip into his childhood and into his life in general and also into his view of life overall. While I can appreciate the scope of what he is trying to accomplish I still cant get into it. I don't see myself as being close-minded but this album does absolutely nothing for me but I am sure there are definitely those that would disagree with me…like that would be a shock…:)

Overall if you are looking for metal music this is not for you but if you can listen to an entire Night Ranger album you may find this of some interest.
