There is something about Noctem that makes them unique, and initially it was something that turned me off from the band. I can remember listening to this album with one of my friends and telling them that the first song was as good as it gets, and that's not very good. I don't know what it was that kept me listening again and again. It may have been the vocals that sounded different or was it the way everything seemed to be played effortlessly? If you have ever gone to live shows, this is how this album played out for me; a band is playing no one knows really, so at the beginning there is relatively no reaction from the crowd, but as their set progresses everyone is going completely insane.

So what is Noctem? Well they are a good Death/Black/Thrash Metal band. The music consists of basically everything that makes those genres good. Fast or slow, Noctem can grab you. Not a single song sounds the same, a variety of playing styles are used. They can shred their asses off and play some groovy riffs. The songs change frequently within by going from an intense part to a seemingly very emotional riff. The drums do nothing to hurt the guitars, they absolutely make everything better. Oh yeah, Noctem knows how to do breakdowns, holy shit I haven't heard many like theirs before. Everything being played just flows together perfectly and the final product is a lot better than my first impression led me to believe.

I can only imagine what their next album may sound like, I assume it will be more of the same ideas. Divinity should be an example album for those who are out of ideas in a genre. You don't have to play the same shit over and over, an album can be made very memorable and good with the right implementations and techniques that are used throughout metal. I think if Noctem can get their album distributed to others around the world that they would be a band that is well liked in the metal community.
