Fifth full-length for 1349, and it's a good one. Except for a rather quiet and boring intro and outro, this is quite enjoyable if you like speedy and raw Norwegian Black Metal, mid to late 90s style. This often means extremely annoying lightspeed blast beats, but here even though the speed factor is there, things are kept under control and fit with the rest of the instruments rather than act as a distraction. The raspy vocals are a bit low but decipherable. Musically it's not really anything new as far as the genre goes, but where Demonoir gets point is in the execution. Aggressive, haunting, kind of evil-sounding (that goes for some of the vocal work as well), it's just well played. This wouldn't be as good without the short interludes they put between each song which abruptly change the pace before starting another blasting onslaught and avoiding this from turning into something that sounds too much alike through and through. I've been spinning this album for a while now and have yet to get tired of it, so it has some lasting power. Recommended if this is your style of Black Metal.
