Jehovirus is the third full-length from Chilean band Nuclear and it is full of loud, fast, hellacious metal that hearkens back to the late 80s heyday of Thrash Metal. The band simply lets it rip from the opening chords of "Belligerence" through the crushing closer "Defleshed." Someone direct me to the nearest mosh pit.

Lightning quick riffing and shouted vocals, a la Reign in Blood-era Slayer, mix with screaming solos, the kind that Kirk Hammett used to play on Kill 'Em All, at a tempo that would make Nuclear Assault have to stop to catch their breath. This is some good shit. Nuclear pay tribute to the past without actually sounding dated. The production is clean enough to allow you to hear everything yet does not sterilize the sound. Jehovirus is all energy and aggression blasting from your speakers. Vocalist Matías Leovicio has the perfect voice for this type of music. He shouts, but does not scream, with a gruffness that sounds completely pissed off. Guitarists Francisco Haussmann and Sebastian Puente have captured the essence of the 80s with their riffs and solos.

Jehovirus is a must for Thrash Metal fans. At just over 38 minutes, it is over far too soon.
