Against All Kings is the fifth full-length from Spain's Vhäldemar and follows on the heels of the Old King's Visions EP from earlier this year. All four tracks from the EP reappear but even if you already own it, don't let that stop you from grabbing Against All Kings. New tracks like "Metalizer" and "Eye for an Eye" are bursting with pure metal aggression. The gritty vocals and sharp riffing had me thinking of Accept and Against All Kings kicks the crap out of The Rise of Chaos (Accept's most recent release). Things do drift from punchy traditional metal to Timeless Miracle Power Metal on songs like "Howling at the Moon," not that that is a bad thing, but I sort of wish the album stayed a bludgeoning riff fest all the way through. Regardless, Against All Kings is an album that makes your chest swell, your heart race and demands you raise your fist. NOW.
