This is a weird slab of death metal with some weird elements thrown in, so it's in no way surprising that they're classified as technical death metal. They remind me a little bit of Ottawa's Cholera in style, though Cholera are more technical. I'm not crazy about this one, but at the same time it's an interesting and varied album, often reminding me of early 70s psychedelic stuff. It's just little bits and pieces scattered throughout the songs, but it's noticeable and somewhat entertaining. It also makes their sound more accessible and might appeal to those who aren't into pure death metal but don't mind some extreme stuff visiting their CD (or whatever) player on occasion. |
