Thrash Metal can be such a beautiful thing, especially when it's performed with a ton of conviction and sheer determination to make it sound good... I mean, REAL good!
Maniac Abductor is a young 5-piece band from Joensuu, Finland, and these youngsters have obviously passed Thrash Metal school with the highest grades possible, at least if their 3-track EP, the very aptly titled Thrash Assault, is anything to judge by.
What appears very obvious right from the beginning when spinning this short but brilliant EP is that these young lads have undoubtedly spent hours and hours listening to their favorites in Anthrax, Slayer, Metallica, Havoc, Destruction and the like. The band plays tight and sounds very passionate on this EP. I am sure people tend to compare them to bands like Lost Society (because they are from Finland too), Havoc and Warbringer due to the similar aggressive and straightforward Thrash approach. But I can tell you right off the bat that these young Finns sound way better than anything that the aforementioned acts have managed to produce on their latest albums; no kidding, dear folks. This is how I want my retro-Thrash to sound, even if I have started hating these two words 'retro' and 'Thrash' getting combined into one specific genre. However, these youngsters are on fire on this release. Call it retro-Thrash or whatever, but the important thing is that they do know how to kick some fuckin' ass.
Ready for the pit now? Good... Let's thhrraasshh...!!!
