Whipstriker: Hey, MetalMike! Have you heard our latest album, Merciless Artillery? It sounds just like old Venom and Celtic Frost!
MetalMike: No, I haven't. Honestly guys, I get at least a couple of retro black/thrash albums a week and everyone says they sound like old Venom and Celtic Frost.
Whipstriker: Yeah, but we really do! Our singer sounds like Cronos, we added some punk for that out of control feel and the music is fast as shit!
MetalMike: Yeah, OK, I get it. I'll try to get to it soon.
Whipstriker: You should listen right away! We REALLY sound like old Venom and Celtic Frost! You'll love it.
MetalMike: (*sigh*) OK, Merciless Artillery, you say?
Whipstriker: Yes! Doesn't that sound like a fucking cool 80s album title?
MetalMike: Yeah, sure. (*reluctantly puts on Merciless Artillery and one spin later*) Whoa! You guys DO sound like old Venom and Celtic Frost. A lot. This stuff really kicks ass.
Whipstriker: See??? We said you'd love it!
MetalMike: I have to admit that while it isn't remotely original, it is very well done, and it really has that early thrash feel. Most of the black/thrash I get today sounds so forced but not this. I'm impressed.
Whipstriker: So, you'll tell all the readers at The Metal Crypt it's good? We'd really appreciate it.
MetalMike: Yeah, I will. Nice job, guys. There are a lot of bands trying to recapture this sound and you've done it as well as any I've heard in a long time. I'll let the readers of The Metal Crypt that are into black/thrash or hell, good fun heavy metal in general, they should check it out. Cheers.
Note: not an actual conversation with the band – MetalMike.
