This is an interesting little split 7" that gathers two bands that don't have all that much in common other than their country of origin. Axeslaughter is death/thrash that reminds quite a bit of Hellhammer and early Celtic Frost served with a more modern sauce. The catchy rhythm of early Celtic Frost is certainly impossible to avoid here. This is not too polished, but not too raw either. The vocals are the expected thrashy style for the genre with a hint of death growls, but overall decipherable. My favourite side of this 7". Cadaveric Incubator are a death/grind band, so when you switch sides you are in a different world. Louder, heavier, much faster and death growls that are surprisingly somewhat decipherable – more or less. This is less old school than what's offered by Axeslaughter, aiming for a more modern death/grind style but without sounding too generic. It's one hell of a speed fest that leaves you splattered on the floor, wondering where that train came from. |
