This band sure knows how to torture me. I was hoping for a full-length after their -short- demo "Art of War", and now I get this 3-tracker that totals 9:23 - even shorter! ARGH! Oh well, can't have everything! :)
The low-growl vocals are complemented by a massive guitar fest, sometimes just simple fast riffage but more often than not going into much more intricate playing. Think a mix of melodic death with a Black Metal atmosphere with some guitar solos reminescent of traditional heavy metal, and you're pretty close to the state of things on Dominator. The sound is a bit muffled at times, which I would guess can be attributed to a modest recording budget... And that's probably the only complaint, other than the short length.
Serpent still show some very good potential and hopefully they'll soon have a proper release to unleash upon the masses. Just like its predecessor, this is worth checking out.
Too short to rate, so no rating. ;)
