Surprisingly enough, this is only the fourth band listed on Metal-Archives with the name Raider, this one a Canadian Death/Thrash outfit that touts using E-Standard even though it's not really as uncommon as they claim it is. Odd marketing strategy aside, this is some solid stuff with plenty of chunky riffs and feral energy that distinguishes itself a bit with some nice melodic flourishes and a more blackened approach to the vocals than you usually see in the style. That said, none of the riffs are first-rate despite having a lot of them, and at 5-6 minutes per song they can start to outstay their welcome by the end. I can't say these guys are great at any one thing, but they're solid as a rock, and fans of stuff like early Annihilator and Skeletonwitch will want to keep an eye on them. |
