Witchcrawl is a Greek band that plays rough, loose heavy metal with solid riffs and iffy vocals on their first EP, World Without End. They have a bit of proto-thrash wildness to their playing which combined with the somewhat maniacal, off-key singing brings to mind Venom minus some of the speed. There's nothing very memorable about any of the songs and I kept wondering when it would be over, mainly because the vocals are so unenjoyable. Witchcrawl is a band starting out at a crossroad; one path sees them fix their vocal shortcomings and sharpen their songwriting skills, the other is a continuation of the characterless songwriting and unschooled singing of World Without End. |
