Long-running U.S. black metallers Profanatica have been somewhat prolific in recent years. This EP is not as diverse and atmospheric as the album The Curling Flame of Blasphemy that preceded it, the band opting this time for an all-out brutal aural assault that is guaranteed to make a disliked neighbour move within days. Profanatica were never about sounding nice and pretty, and this no different. Heavy as fuck, raw, unpolished, fucking evil-sounding and just scraping your eardrums until you scream for mercy (or, in my case, just listen to the whole thing again—I'm sick). This stuff is chaotic and screechy as fuck, yet somehow sound cohesive. This is very old school black metal that throws you back to the early second wave and then some. I really should play this outside the door of a few neighbours I'd like out of here... ;)
