The follow up to Sword's highly-acclaimed debut "Metalized" falls short of attaining the same quality, and shows a little move toward a more commercial, less aggressive sound than on "Metalized". The title track is a bit weak, especially its annoying chorus, so using it as the opener might have been a mistake. "The Trouble Is" would have been a much better opener, and is arguably the best track on the album - in fact I wouldn't be surprised if it had come from the "Metalized" recording sessions, the song would have fit right in. As a whole the album is OK, with some songs that are a bit of a filler-type bore, while some other songs shine by themselves. Despite this, even the filler stuff has a bit of good material in it, and the album is still a good listen. The band flirts a bit with glamourous hard rock with this release, but overall still maintains the galloping heavy metal sound that they showcased on their debut. The mix with the mellower stuff doesn't come out just right, and it takes a few listens to get past the uneven songwriting.
This is the kind of album you like to throw in a couple of times a year, just for the hell of it. Definitely not classic material like its predecessor (except for a song or two), yet it's the same band and it's an OK effort, so if you liked "Metalized", you'll at least want this for an additional Sword fix from time to time - just don't play it next to "Metalized". If you can get past the roller-coasting quality of the songs, you're in for a good time. Nothing more, nothing less. They could have done better but also a lot worse.
