Faceless Burial are a Melbourne-based act that work in heavy and visceral Death Metal not too far removed from Incantation and early Immolation if they had more blast beats. The music is complex and vicious, though I will say that the arrangements can get too busy and come across as a pile of mindless rumbling rather than full-fledged songs. When they do put the pieces together, like on "Spuming Catarrhal Gruel" and the excellent title track, they produce a dark and intricate sound that shows a band that's eager to make something out of the ordinary. Frankly, I think they should focus more on making songs like the title track, as the band really shines when they get doomy rather than blasty. A band to watch. |
