Furnace are one of dozens of Swedish Death Metal bands that Rogga Johansson has a hand in, and unfortunately, "one of dozens" is the best description I have for it. Dark Vistas is their second album, released mere months after their debut, and it's basically a watered-down Amon Amarth release in execution. The songs are mid-paced and heavily melodic, with Johansson's harsh vocals serving as contrast, and they are all undistinguished and just OK at best. Rogga has some great bands out there, but this one just sounds like a collection of leftover tracks he had lying around slapped together into a full-length, none of which have anything worth talking about in any detail. Skippable. |
