I had not heard this band in nearly 20 years. I'm saying that a lot of lately. I remember picking up their first album in 2000 after reading a review in a French metal magazine. To Live to Kill to Live (say that ten times fast) is pure breed European power metal and, even though it's light years ahead of the band's debut, it's firmly rooted in the European power metal of the time. The band have certainly upped their game over the years, both in terms in songwriting and musicianship. This has everything you expect from over the top, blasting, upbeat European power metal: Powerful vocals (that often remind me of Hansi from Blind Guardian), speed, very catchy melodies, crazy blast beats and in this case there's an undeniable epic vibe that gives everything even more power and cranks the "over the top" up to 11. This is very polished, high-precision metal with surprises on every corner, which makes every listen all the more interesting as you notice things you might have missed before. They like to take unexpected turns and catchy the listener off guard and this makes the album one that you can't help but stop and pay attention while listening to it. Fans of polished European power metal are almost guaranteed to get a kick out of this bad boy. Well done.
