This EP showcases a style that is usually more associated with black metal than death metal. This is minimalistic and largely devoid of melody, with some really weird guitar and drum work. Everything is slow, kind of all over the place as if the band members had had a few too many and were just messing around in their rehearsal place. Same goes for the vocals, deep growls that sound as minimalistic as the music, as well as the occasional faraway-sounding screams that seem to be reaching out from the depths of hell. I'm not familiar with the band's previous material, so I don't know if this is just how they do things, but this EP will appeal to only a limited audience. Personally, I liked it when I was in the mood for some weirdness, other times... not so much. |
