Well, this is fun. I had never heard of this German band before. This album was originally released around the time I was getting into metal, so it's been a while. Bursting Out (The Beast Became Human) has everything you'd expect from a heavy metal album released in 1986. Speed, catchiness, a kind of party-like vibe, and an overall feeling of a band just having a lot of fun. There are a lot of influences at play here, but the most obvious are Accept and Judas Priest as well as a few of the catchiest American metal bands, even some of the most "metalesque" glam bands of the time when it comes to the catchy party vibe. Throw in some AC/DC for good measure, as "Out for Love" certainly sounds like a heavier version of the Australian hard rock juggernauts. The vocals are not too polished but fit the music quite well and, damn, they're catchy as hell and it's hard not to get drawn in by the vocal lines. Good luck trying to get the melodies herein out of your head; this is one of those albums so catchy, it's infectious. The CD version of the reissue includes five live songs. That's not really essential, but there's a rawer, authentic edge to them that makes them fit well at the end of the album. Any fan of traditional heavy metal of the mid-80s is likely to get a kick out of this. |
