Funeral Fullmoon is a relatively new one-man band, formed in 2019 but already counting two demos, one EP, one split and two full-lengths in the discography. Poetry of the Death Poison is chock-full of old-school, cold, raw and minimalistic black metal that's quite reminiscent of what some of the über-underground bands were releasing in the mid-90s, though there's more order here and it doesn't sound like it was recorded in a bathroom. There's nothing pretty nor particularly melodic here, the music alternating between a relatively fast pace that can sound a little repetitive and a slower pace that cranks up the heaviness. The vocals are agonizing just as grinding as the guitars and add much to the bleak, cavernous atmosphere. Good disturbing stuff. ;) |
