If there's one thing that Russia should be as well known for as their vodka, it's the steady stream of killer bands that they tend to produce. Moratory are yet another, forming well over a decade ago, and have bashed out singles and EPs before finally getting to their first full-length. I can't speak for earlier works, but The Old Tower Burns, their second album, is a workout in raucous, energetic Crossover Thrash that sounds a good bit like Crumbsuckers on their first two albums if they leaned more on Thrash. They even got a production to match, which is pretty raw while still being crisp and clear enough for everything to breathe. As you'd expect, this does nothing new or flashy, it's just here to blast out some good ol' fashioned Thrash that does a good enough job of worshipping the '80s that you'll end up wanting to fistfight a cyborg while downing pack after pack of alcohol. Nothing essential, but it's a good time while it's on.
