Well, this is some refreshing thrash courtesy of Ukraine's Mortal Vision and their debut, Mind Manipulation. So much thrash today is either one of the established "schools" or another and it is nice to hear a band go with a different sound, one that takes the harsh vocals of German thrash and combines it with the more technical guitar work of the Bay Area and comes up with a sound not unlike U.S. bands such as Sacred Reich and Wargasm. The songwriting is average to a notch above, so none of the songs really grabbed me and left a mark, but I was banging my head the entire time Mind Manipulation was on. This is the kind of fast, aggressive stuff tailor-made for the live setting and with some better songs, Mortal Vision is a band I could really get behind.
