It’s been a long time since I last reviewed these guys, that being Path of Fire way back in 2010. God Ends Here is not the most remarkable death metal album I’ve heard, and I can’t say I remember much of it after it’s over, but damn is it entertaining while it’s on. Razor-sharp, laser-precision incisive guitar work is featured here, and it just calls for massive headbanging and to break out that air guitar. The sheer heaviness is punishing and when the drums pound away, there’s no escaping said punishment. Some little choirs here and there lighten the load a little bit, but they have that little creepy vibe that hint at what’s coming next. Aeon are from Sweden, but they stick to the USDM formula they’ve been playing for many years so, if you enjoy that sound, you’ll find something to like on God Ends Here. |
