This is female-fronted thrash and I must say the vocalist sure belts out those vocals as they are arguably the most noticeable thing on this album (there are some harsher vocals here and there that sometimes feel a bit out of place, but not bad enough to be a turn off). She’s got quite the powerful screams that’ll rip your ears off at times. The thrash offered here has some heavy and power metal influences and it reminds me of some stuff I frequently heard some 20 years ago. Not sure that qualifies as old school yet? Overall the album is heavy and fast and packs a lot of punch, though a lot of the material here sounds alike. Good thing it’s good stuff. ;) I don’t find it great, but it’s quite different from most thrash that has come out in recent years, so for that alone it’s worth checking out. |
