This new album checks pretty much all the marks when it comes to an Hammerfall release. It's mostly upbeat, some songs are over the top, plenty of headbanging moments and definitely no shortage of singalong-worthy numbers. The backbone of their sound is all there and there are no surprises, though I find what's missing is one of more songs that really make me go "hell yeah!" Foot-tapping, singalong, catchy melodies, a certain commercial appeal; that stuff hits the spot, but I didn't feel like anything really stood out while listening to the album (though that didn't prevent me from listening to it over and over). I had a better time listening to Dominion. There are a few songs that are kind of melancholic and might not be the best thing if you're feeling down, but they're nonetheless beautiful songs. Long story short, this is another solid entry in the band's discography. It likely won't bring any of their detractors on board, but fans will feel right at home with it.
