This is an album of dense, melodic Pagan/Black Metal from Germany in the vein of French bands like Belenos or Aes Dana. The guitar harmonies are complex and layered, and there is a lot going on to keep you interested. The vocals are a monotonous rasp that gets old quickly and seems to have no relation to the rest of the music—just yapping away mixed way too loud. The parts where the vocalist shuts the fuck up are the best, as you can hear what is happening. Otherwise, this is a promising but derivative album of Pagan Metal that may interest fans of the style, but it's not the best. |
