Gamerra hails from Louisiana, which explains the use of the word "couillon," which I hadn't heard in... decades? Where I grew up it meant "coward", but apparently in some other French-speaking areas it can mean idiot, stupid or jerk. Take your pick. These guys play thrash that reminds me a lot of mid-to-late '80s stuff, not unlike Municipal Waste (and quite a few others) have been doing for a few years now. It's fast, a little crossoverish, with aggressive shouted vocals that are sometimes clean enough, sometimes harsher. It's nothing special, especially given how crowded the genre is these days, but it's catchy enough and some of the guitar work really lends to throwing the fist in the air while headbanging along. There's nothing particularly wrong with this EP and it's actually quite fun, but there's nothing to set it apart either. |
