It's pretty rare that black metal so raw comes my way, unless I actively seek and buy it. Fonsadera, to my ears, sounds rather inoffensive (can't help but think of Ponderosa restaurants even though I've never been to one), but the band is into a very, very, very raw and lo-fi black metal approach on Macabre Damp. I'm reminded a little bit of WYQM, but faster. Sometimes it sounds a little like static, sometimes just mid-90s lo-fi "bedroom black metal" (as we used to joke), but what's constant here is the disturbing dark atmosphere that can be felt throughout the album. It's a weird mix of despair, depression and helplessness that also sneaks in some kickassry that I cannot explain. I have heard rawer albums (just a few), but this is pretty extreme in terms of rawness and it's pretty disturbing throughout. I find it's both relaxing and freaky, which are pretty much polar opposites. It's one of those albums you need to experience and see if it's for you. Personally, I've found it quite addictive.
