With a name like this I was not expecting a lot, but it is a lot better than it looked. Speedwhore are one of those underground bands who have produced a buttload of singles, splits and EPs rather than just making fucking albums, so this is only their second full-length in like 17 years of existence. This is pretty raw, stripped-down Blackened Thrash, without as much speed as a name like that would lead you to expect. Bands like Nocturnal or Witchburner are obvious touchstones for what they are after on this. The songwriting is messy and chaotic, and the recording is intentionally crude. I would like this to either sound a little better, or have a bit more energy and spark to it. It's entertaining enough, but there are other bands who do this better. |
