This is very raw, lo-fi black metal very reminiscent of the minimalistic bands of the mid-90s. It's mostly kind of monotone, never getting flashy and it all sounds largely the same except for the Raven Dark cover ("For Glory Hat") which exhibits a bit of catchiness and really stands out despite it being painted in the same overall style as the rest of the album. Other than that, it's dark, cold and raw, sometimes melancholic very basic black metal that I found kind of relaxing because of the overall monotony, even though some more melodic passages remind me somewhat of Immortal circa At the Heart of Winter. If you like dirty, raw, basic messed-up black metal, give this one a try. |
