Reaching back to the '80s for some power/thrash inspiration is Arch Blade, a band formed in 2019 in Los Angeles, California. Kill the Witch is their debut album, and it is a collection of pounding, fast-paced metal tunes that are generally pretty good with the main sticking point being the screamy vocals. The singer isn't bad, but there's not a lot of variation in his delivery. Some fans may enjoy what he's doing, but for me it is too close to Phil Anselmo from Pantera's later albums and that is a huge turn off. I don't find anything else about Kill the Witch worth shouting about, but songs like "Kill the King" and "Touched by Death" are enjoyable enough. Fans of bands like Helstar, Vicious Rumors, Laaz Rockit, etc. may find what Arch Blade is doing to their liking. |
