I was thinking to myself the other day, "Whatever happened to Bloodaxe?" and lo, here's the album that came out just last November. I remember this being a really fast, vicious band back in the day, so it was something of a surprise to me that this is a bit more mellow and atmospheric. Not to say it lacks aggression, but it's not like I remember this band on albums like Raping the Ancient. The beginning of the disc is better, with some furious riffing, but as this album goes on it gets slower and the songs sound more and more alike. It's not terrible, but not really engaging either. I am glad to see this act still kicking around, but this isn't like the old days. See below for more reviews and interviews... ↓ |
