Just discovered this band through a YouTube recommendation, and it was the experience of being all jaded and like "Okay, impress me" and then actually being impressed, because this band fucking crushes. Just Before Dawn are a potent mix of traditional Scandinavian Death Metal with Bolt Thrower's churning riff-style, with lyrics obsessed with the Vietnam War. I had never heard of this band, but they have 6 EPs and 4 full-length albums, so there is a lot of back catalog to dig into. This just rips. The guitar sound is a crunching, pummeling wall of destruction, the drums are doing a solid impression of Andy Whale, and the riffs are sitting right on that line between Like an Everflowing Stream and Warmaster. If you like Death Metal in any way at all, then this will absolutely get your rocks off. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
