I can’t help but think of the Inkscape graphics software when I see this band’s name. This is the only Inkvisitor album I’ve heard and apparently there was a change of sound from their previous work. Hopefully it wasn’t considered to be for the best as I found the album kind of a chore to get through. It’s the vocals that I find especially annoying, a bit too yappy and Anselmo-esque for my taste, and it’s just not something I can tune out. Some vocal lines come off better here and there, so it’s not all bad, but for the most part at times I wished I was listening to an instrumental. Musically they’re a bit all over the place in the thrash realm and the album isn’t all that cohesive, so "as an album," I don’t like it much, but there are a few good songs here and there and some riffs and solos really grabbed my attention. I’m typing this as the singer is letting one another croaky scream and I think I’m going to stop right there. ;) |
