I reviewed this band's most recent album, Night Sky Illuminations last year, and I liked it pretty well, even if I didn't love it. This is not a new album, but instead a remastered version of their debut demo from 2010 with some bonus tracks added on. This is, unsurprisingly, more primitive-sounding than their latest, but I also like it better. I think the more underground recording makes this sound more arcane and underground, and even if it still sounds like Emperor, this at least sounds like early Emperor, which is always better. The compositions meander a lot, but with this kind of mood I don't mind that, really. The band even throws in a couple of Cure covers, in case you didn't get where their heads are at. If you like early Emperor or Limbonic Art then you should check this out. |
