T.I.M.E. is the third album from this Italian band that likes to title their releases with initials. Their neoclassical power metal is very much in the Italian style with crunchy guitars offset by abundant keyboards, songwriting designed to evoke emotion and introspective lyrics. They've been active for more than 20 years, so the playing is excellent and the sound of T.I.M.E. is smooth as silk. The songwriting is standard for neoclassical power metal and I'm not hearing anything that stands out in this crowded subgenre of metal. Singer Eleonora Travaglino has a good voice, but her delivery is not overflowing with charm and she sounds a bit wooden at times, especially at the outset of the album. She seems to get more comfortable as the album progresses and with "Theater is My Essence" starts to hit her stride but as this is the closer, it's too late to save the rest of the album. The result is that most of the songs leave very little impression after they end. Marble is looking to play with the likes of Oratory, Area 51 and, of course, Nightwish, but with T.I.M.E. are something of a fringe player in this space. |
