Something a little different, this 3-track promo is some kind of doom/death hybrid that sounds heavy as hell, like "weight of the world on your shoulders" heavy, and for cause: they only use the bass guitar and drums on these songs. There's a hollow, echoing sound throughout that makes it feel like a mix of soothing and horror-like, I guess it depends on your mood. I found it to be kind of one-dimensional, not in a bad way, but it does sound a bit like one long song instead of three. It's strangely hypnotic and I found myself hitting play again and again after each listen. Not sure what a full-length album of this would be like, but you have to give the band some props for doing something different. |
