Well, this hits the spot. Ainzamkait plays black metal that's well rooted in the second wave, but also very melancholic and—to some extent—melodic, all while keeping it aggressive and crunchy. I love how the guitars take me back to the early to mid '90s; razor-sharp, nothing too fancy, but they tickle the ears and just get the job done. There's that almost constant buzzing guitar sound that's so simple yet so effective. The raspy screeches are a perfect match, and there are even some cleaner vocals at times that actually don't water things down for a change; very solemn and melancholic, nothing flowery here. This is one of those albums that just makes me kick back and relax (as I've mentioned in other reviews in the past, I'm weird when it comes to what I find relaxing), nothing that really stands out from the rest, the album just nicely flowing from beginning to end.
